A TSI engine offers great fuel economy in between 30-40 mpg. Driving at a lower commute speed helps you get the maximum fuel efficiency. But with the TDI, you get an average of 40-60 mpg. Since diesel produces 20% higher energy than petrol diesel engines are intrinsically more fuel-efficient. However, this difference is mainly seen on highways.

New to this forum , but not the golf, currently have a mk6 1.6 tdi and looking to change to the mk7. but we are undecided which spec to go for. 91% of or driving is town/city traffic to and from work 3 days a week. but then used on the odd run at weekends. we do 10k miles a year
